Recently on January 29 and 30th the Lanier HOSA went to their competition. Now, you might ask what HOSA is…….. Well, HOSA is a national health organization in high schools around America. In HOSA you can get excellent scholarships plus on your college resume it adds to the type of extracurriculars that colleges are looking for.We also do competitions during the school year where we compete against other HOSA members. There are 3 levels Regional,State, and Nationals. For each level you go to a new city and spend the weekend there with all expenses paid. I mean, come on, who doesn’t like to travel for free. Now, why are kids in HOSA called the “Future Rich Kids”? Well that’s because these kids in HOSA have a higher chance than others to go into the medical field and, to be honest, most medical professionals get paid a great deal of money. Returning back to the competitions, 22 of our students finished in the top 10 of their categories. Also 6 of our HOSA members are going to state. Plus, not only are they just going to state our members have ranked 1st and 3rd in two different categories. Hannah Jean being took 1st place in Pharmacology and Alberto Jaramillo, Jason Euceda, Fidel Aguilar, Alexis Santos, and Juan Orneleas took 3rd place in Place Public Service Announcement out of over 1,000 students that had come to compete in the competitions! This is what Lanier Vikings are all about, after all Lanier students are going to be the future rich kids.
