There were well over 400 participants at this year’s edition of the annual Lanier Community Dinner, held at the Lanier High School cafeteria in November 16. The dinner is held to bring the community together and to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, or as the flyer says “… an evening of entertainment, a free holiday meal, and family fun!” This year the event came a bit earlier than last year, when it was held in December. During the meal, the families were treated to music provided by the Lanier High School Jazz Band. The Jazz Band is directed by their teacher, Nick Ferrell. Its members are students of all grade levels (9th-12th). Ferrell said that his favorite song of that evening was probably “Born to be Wild.” He noted some sound issues on “Chameleons,” and suggested that the band would probably spend some time on the song. ” we had some technical difficulties on that song, so we need to work those out”, said Ferrell. Lanier is planning to hold another event  like this before the winter break in 2017.
